ULTIMATE Super Late Models Prepare For West Virginia Doubleheader July 18th And 19th

The ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series is set to make a return to Wild and Wonderful West Virginia on Friday, July 18th and Saturday, July 19th for a twin bill at a pair of the state’s most exciting racing facilities. Friday night the series makes its return to I-77 Raceway Park in Ripley, West Virginia for a $5,000 to win / 50-lap affair. Then on Saturday night the series makes a first-ever appearance at Princeton Speedway in Princeton, West Virginia for a $4,000 to win / 40-lap feature event.

“This is really shaping up to be a fantastic weekend for us. We had one of our best races of the year in 2013 at I-77 Raceway Park. The track there is a bullring and really provides some exciting action. It is a little bit of a throwback type facility that has a vast history. That battle last year between Casey Roberts and Eddie Carrier for the lead was incredible. We hope to enjoy that same intensity and excitement this weekend too.” said ULTIMATE Series Director Kelley Carlton.

The weekend will conclude at one of the area’s most prolific venues in Princeton Speedway. The track boasts a very strong local fan base and is known for tight side-by-side racing. “This year we were lucky enough to add Princeton Speedway to the weekend. Princeton is another one of those very exciting and racy facilities. Princeton has never had a Super Late Model event so that definitely adds another wrinkle to the story. All these racers will be on an equal playing field. None of the drivers will have any notes to work from. Sure some have raced the track in the FASTRAK crate engine-powered cars but there will be some big differences in how they will have to drive and how they will need to adjust their cars. This one will be very interesting to watch.” added Carlton.

Gaffney, South Carolina’s Dennis “Rambo” Franklin leads the ULTIMATE Super Late Model standings headed into the weekend. Franklin, however, enjoys a less-than comfortable margin over fellow title pursuers Jeff Smith of Dallas, North Carolina and Doug Sanders of Springwood, North Carolina. Drivers expected to lead the home-state charge will be Chris Garnes of Evans, West Virginia; Zack and Tim Dohm of Cross Lanes, West Virginia; Prosperity, West Virginia’s Ricky Williams; and Eslie Bills of Kincaid, West Virginia. Other invaders include series regular Brian Ledbetter of Stanley, North Carolina; and Anthony Burroughs of Rogersville, Alabama along with many others from around the region.
